This is private land owned by Stay Ready NOLA, Inc., a Louisiana 501(c)(3) not-for-profit organization. The public is permitted to use it for recreation free of charge. It is not a commercial facility.
Limitation of liability — La. R.S. 9:2791 and 9:2795
This land is open for recreational use under the Louisiana Recreational Use Statutes. The Owner gives no assurance that the premises are safe, owes no duty of care to persons using the land, and is not liable for injury to any person or property caused by any condition of the land, natural or man-made, or by the act of any person or animal on it.
Warning — hazards exist here
- Unrestrained, off-leash dogs. Dogs may run, jump, bite, fight, and knock people down.
- Unimproved ground: holes, roots, debris, mud, standing water, and uneven footing.
- Snakes, fire ants, wildlife, and animal waste.
- Fences, gates, benches, and shade structures that may have sharp edges or fail.
- No lighting, water, restrooms, shelter, or first aid.
This property is not supervised, staffed, inspected, or maintained on any schedule. Conditions change without notice. Do not assume any hazard has been found or removed.
Dog owners are solely responsible for their dogs
Under La. Civil Code art. 2321, the owner of an animal is answerable for the damage it causes. Anyone bringing a dog here is fully responsible for that dog and for any injury or damage it causes. Keep your dog in sight and under control, leash and remove any aggressive dog, pick up waste, and latch the gate. The Owner does not enforce these rules and is not responsible for any dog or any other person.
Children
Children must be supervised by an adult at all times. Off-leash dogs are unpredictable around children.
Your own duty of care
You remain responsible for your own safety and for those you bring, including your animals (La. R.S. 9:2795(D)). Open dawn to dusk. No glass, alcohol, fires, vehicles, events, or commercial use. The Owner may close this land or exclude any person or animal at any time.
